Abingworth Developments Ltd was set up in 2009 by Tim Bryant, FRICS, when Tim devised a planning strategy to gain planning permission for redevelopment on a site now known as Abingworth Meadows, as part of a joint venture consortium.
Abingworth Developments went on to own the village shop and café building, together with a new veterinary practice, and two newly-developed flats on the first floor.
Since their establishment in 2009, Abingworth Developments has expanded into further development projects. They now have options on land in Cowfold, West Sussex, where their site has been identified as a preferred site in the Neighbourhood Plan for the delivery of 35 houses. A detailed planning application for 35 houses is to be submitted shortly to Horsham District Council.
Abingworth Developments achieved a planning consent for four affordable houses in Thakeham, West Sussex. These four houses were pre-sold to Heylo Housing as shared ownership dwellings. They are now complete and all occupied.
Abingworth Developments are also promoting the adjoining site off High Bar Lane, Thakeham, for about 40 houses. It is anticipated that a detailed application will be submitted during 2022.
The strategy for the company now is to build out the schemes when consents are granted, using Tim Bryant’s long-standing experience in development and project management assembled during his 40-year professional career.
Tim Bryant qualified in 1979 and worked in London’s West End as a commercial surveyor, before setting up a general practice surveying firm, which developed into a chain of five offices throughout the Home Counties.
During the 1990s, he focused on project management and, amongst other projects, delivered the first off-airport bonded cargo warehouse at Heathrow for KLM. This involved the negotiation of the purchase of the land from Esso, overseeing the construction of a 25,000sq m building, the fit-out and the investment sale.
At the same time, he was managing the development of several mixed office/retail/residential buildings in Clerkenwell, on the edge of the City of London, and he entered into a number of joint venture companies with his clients.
Another notable project during this period was the purchase of the former Oxfam offices in Summertown, Oxford, following Oxfam’s relocation to the Oxford Business Park. As a principal of Summertown Properties, he oversaw the acquisition, refurbishment and extension of the properties, culminating in the letting and sale of the properties.
Now, as a director of Abingworth Developments, Tim continues to pursue both residential and commercial projects in the West and East Sussex areas.
Jane is responsible for the administration, finance and marketing departments of Abingworth Developments, ensuring the smooth running of the company and providing a central point of contact for any enquiries.
